Straw and Hay Bale Protection with Toptex Fabric

Straw and Hay Bale Protection with Toptex Fabric

Toptex Fabric is a high-grade membrane manufactured by TenCate used to protect straw, cereals, sugar beet and potato harvests from frost and rain. It is effective in:

  1. Reducing the amount of clinging clay on beets or potatoes – efficiently leading to less cleaning water needed in the process.
  2. Protecting and keeping harvests dry offering a higher yield for the farmer and better quality for the consumer.
  3. Freeing up inside storage that would otherwise be used to protect the hay and straw.

Toptex Fabrics can be used to protect straw bales reliably against any impact caused by wind and rain. It does all this whilst supplying effective respiration for the harvested goods. This leads to a high quality of seasonal straw that is preserved effortlessly throughout the whole winter period – bales can dry off quickly after any heavy rainfall avoiding mould development on the harvest.

Toptex Straw Cover Fabric is produced from green, continuous polypropylene filament at 130 g/m2 (3.8 oz/yd2) and available in the following sizes:

  • 9.8 x 12.5m (10.7 x 13.7 yd)
  • 12 x 25m (13.1 x 27.3 yd)
  • 9.8 x 25m (10.7 x 27.3 yd).

Not sure what size you need? We recommend using the Toptex Interactive Calculator which will help you in finding the correct size for your straw and hay bales.

Toptex Cover Usage to Protect Cereals

Toptex Fabrics can also be used to safely protect cereals from contamination and water condensation. This secure crop coverage protects harvested goods from bird excrement, dust, and other foreign objects. Toptex achieves this protection whilst remaining permeable to air and vapour.
